I am very disappointed with the book and included online support. The book is pretty good. I am glad I read a review that clarified that it is 90% a physics review and 10% everything else (but I needed that, and the Physics review is quite good and clear). The online stuff is what I am most disappointed with. It took me about a week to finally figure out how to register my book and access the online stuff. Then I kept having problems. My password won't work, and the "reset your password" thing doesn't work. The email NEVER comes. The practice tests are just PDFs, not an online test-taking experience, and they are riddled with typos. And not just minor ones either. One thing that is nice is the explanations to the practice exams. Each problem has an explanation of how to solve the problem, including equations, etc.Overall, not impressed with the test prep material from Princeton, especially the online portion.
Bought this book after reading the previous comment which stated that this book is mostly Physics review (it also does say in the description that there is a comprehensive review on Physics and strategies for the other sections). The book suggests purchasing the Cracking the DAT book for a thorough review on Bio, Chem and Organic Chem - which makes sense because the DAT and OAT are the same in those categories, as well as the Reading Comp and Math. So the OAT really differs in the Physics part, which is why this book concentrates so heavily on that section. If you want a study guide for all sections of the OAT, I recommend purchasing both Cracking the OAT and Cracking the DAT; for ~$25 a book, you can't beat it. I also took the Kaplan review class (for both DAT and OAT - which is mostly the same as well), but found the Physics review to be lacking - prompting me to purchase this book.
I bought this book when I was getting ready to go to optometry school and it was great to have. It helped me out and was very affordable which I needed because I was going to school and needed to purchase these books.
It was ok with me - out of 200-400 my pretest score was 375. I bought it as a review. If a student was using it when they were in the 200's, it wouldn't help much. It did not "teach me" much... it wasn't in detailed. It was just good so I could review.
It's okay, its a good price but the description didnt talk about the book being mostly over physics. i would buy this book if i needed more help on the physics section.
I opened this book to study for the physics section. In the first chapter, it covers vectors with inaccurate information. How can a up-right vector + up-right vector= down-left? I want a refund. I used the kaplan book to study from instead.
I used this book with the Princeton DAT book to study for the OATs. This book only has physics, its meant to be used with the DAT book. I found its physics review very helpful. It might have been lacking a bit in some topics but generally I am very happy with it. I also used the Kaplan OAT book and I think the combination of two different books worked well together!
Good ole Princeton review material. One thing to note, this only focuses on physics. Biology and Chemistry aren't covered extensively, they instead refer you to buy another one of their books. As a physics major in undergrad, I wish I had known that before I bought it.
