I don't think this book was meant to be a go-to dictionary that listed area-specific rules and regulations. For that, we have the internet, and frankly I'd rather rely on that to ensure up-to-date information was at my finger tips given how quickly out dated information like that can get. Rather, I appreciated this book because it pointed out things that I did not have the clarity of mind to think of on my own following each of three accidents (none of which were my fault) because I didn't know the right questions to ask or how to navigate the system. I found the book to be entertaining in it's warm and friendly tone--it was if I was getting advice from a friend--and, again, appreciated the tenacity and doggedness of the author in encouraging everyone to be their strongest advocate. I also liked that it was not page after page after page of boring stuff: just long enough to guide me in the right direction. Not everyone has the money to hire attorneys, and if they do, it's important to understand what you are entitled to and what is a fair and just settlement. I had an attorney for one of my cases and during my deposition realized he was on his computer playing solitaire. Needless to say, we lost the case even though the guy that hit me was driving on the shoulder of the road and rear-ended me as I made a right hand turn. Had I had this book, it would have given me the outline (if not the specific details) on how and where to go to help myself.
Nice starting point. Laws vary from state to state and are subject to change. I don't think that was meant to be a one stop guide, but a good starting point and explains the process well. Very helpful!
Talk about thoroughly researched! This book sets a new standard fro the phrase. The germ of the idea for this book was not, "Hmm, how can I make money with a how-to guide?" Rather it was the desire to share her own hard-won experience that drove Vanessa Chapin to create the book, after she'd taken the knocks in navigating her way throught the Wonderful (read: hideous) World of Insurnace Claims. She knows of what she speaks, at least as well, if not better than, the insurance lawyers themselves. And much of what she offers here, to the mass of people who find themselves in car insurance Claims Hell, I'm certain said lawyers would rather she did not reveal.
I only wish that I had had this book BEFORE I was rear-ended twice within six months, once by an uninsured motorist. As a result I have permanent disability and I have chronic pain. My compensation - virtually nil. Very, very helpful book!
A great bases to start with!!! Of course you'll have to do your own research since laws very state to state, but this is better then not knowing anything at all or asking friends who also don't know anything but being screwed by their companies
Insurance companies, with the help of mandatory liability insurance demanded by most states, make billions of dollars per year; have you ever wondered how they keep from crossing the lines? Getting rear-ended is no laughing matter, and unlike in the past, does not necessarily guarantee a decision, or payout, in your favor. This book helps you to overcome the obstacles and get what you deserve. Great book, well written, defininately a buy if you are in negotiations. Don't be like Mike, hit in the rear end and clueless.
A well organized book, and very informative. It's all useful information to have on hand before you actually need it, and presented in a quirky, engaging way that makes an otherwise dull topic approachable.
Easy to use guide. Not something I ever wanted to need, but the author has solid real life experience and tips that really work. She walks you through the process smoothly and breaks it down clearly. Well worth the money!
