I have an old copy of this book that a friend of mine happen to like so I came here to and found it.This book has tons of pictures from all over Suffolk County. Chances are high that the town you live in or grew up in is photographed in this book. I would like to see a bit more information in the book about the towns but otherwise I recommend it to all Long Islanders!

I ordered this book for my mother because she grew up in North Port. She opened her gift on Christmas day and spent an hour going through the pictures and telling me about all the places. I've never been there, so is was nice hearing my mother share her memories with me. She's looking forward to reading the book and learning about the history of Suffolk county. Although she grew up there, there are many things she doesn't know about it, like its industry. I plan on borrowing the book once she's finished.

I purchased this book for myself to enjoy and for my friends to look at when they visit (both for a history lesson and to prove to them that we once had land untouched by strip malls). It's fascinating to see the towns of Suffolk County in these early photos. Anyone with a penchant for history or an eye for photography will certainly enjoy this.

If you are into local history, you'll love this book. It is filled with historical photos, dating back to the late 1800s. I very much enjoy looking through the photos and comparing them to the towns I know, love and grew up going to. It will remain on my reference shelf for many years to come.
