Excellent review of all the systems with emphasis on the changes occurring in the elderly. Each topic was expanded using the nursing process, so it was easy to remember. I was able to take the Geriatric Certification with confidence. Thank you so much. The book was in excellent condition.
The chapters are thorough and easy to read. Great end of chapter summaries and study questions. Great for studying for the ANCC Gero nurse exam.
I used this book as the main text for our Gerontology class and I was very disappointed. A number of times, the book completely contradicted it's own information, and the reading was very dense and tended to repeat itself. A good editor could probably decrease the amount of pages in the book by at least a quarter and it would then be a better text. Also, there are no companion study guides or practice NCLEX questions to accompany the reading, making exam prep that much more difficult. I would not recommend this book to be used in any nursing program.
This book is an easy read. If you dont already know about gerontology, get this book. It has already helped me with my understanding of the elderly patient.
It gives me enough material to prepare for my Exam. Format is understandable and I like the boxes that highlight the important points to remember. I definitely think this is the best gerontological book out there.
This book is easy to navigate, laid out well and just as good as the "real" text book. While some pictures would do nicely just to break up the heavy text it is really a great book.
Can't say I would recommend getting this even if your teacher requires it. You will get most of the same info from your Med Surg books and lectures.Save money.
