I am a nursing student and purchased this for my pediatric/OB semester to help out with care plans. It is worth the purchase although I recommend flipping around in it before using the index because it's a little hard to find what you want. For example, if your client has NEC you can't just find that in the index, you have to look up "nutrition" or other key problems. Also, one care plan may be used for several different problems. The biggest issue I could find with the book is when you go to the page number you want referenced in the index, it will say "See Altered Nutrition" but you have to flip pages trying to find it since there is no clue where the full care plan is. I finally figured out how to use it at the end of the semester and then found out it is on statref! if you already have access to that.Bottom line is, it's the best and maybe even only option out there. It is worth the price since it saves time with your care planning.
This book is great. It has a lot of careplans with rationales for interventions. It also has some basic pathophysiology maps. I had to add to the maps but they gave me a good basic outline to add to. My instructor loved all of my careplans and even kept a couple of my maps to use as examples for future students. I ordered the maternal newborn book as well. This is the most useful book I have bought so far and I have several other careplan books & clinical manuals. A must have. If you're going to buy one get this one.
This is only good for the patho flowsheet it has, other than that the actual nursing care plans are not very good, I would buy this if you need help doing patho flow sheets but I would buy it in combo with either All-in-One Care Planning Resource: Medical-Surgical, Pediatric, Maternity or Nursing Care Plans: Nursing Diagnosis and Intervention, 6e.
This is a good book if you need help with care plans, but the only problem is that the care plans are in the book based on Disease or Disorder. I think it would be better if they just listed the problem (for example: Fluid volume Deficit) and not make you go searching through the book.
Nursing student- used this book for my pediatrics clinical rotation. As did six of my classmates. You can look up the disease process and get all of the related NANDA with interventions and rationales. Huge time saver!
This is a very difficult book to use... Don't buy it lacks important data to back Nursing Diag. ... Look for something better
This book is an excellent resource for all nurses and nursing students. It is very thorough!! It will be a HUGE help in putting together care plans! I use it frequently to help our nursing students!
Had great resources and very easy to follow. I used this book for my ob-gyn care plans. I used this book a lot.
