Well organized, illustrated and excellent review for graduate programs. As others have noted, font size is very small and hard to read without tiring your eyes-- especially those of us with presbyopia due to age. If publisher could retain format-- boxes, illustrations, flow diagrams, etc-- Kindle version would solve the issue since one could increase the font size. Or, if Kindle format is not possible, simply offer a larger print edition. I believe there is a market for this (and other science texts with similar issues). Is anyone at Elsevier paying attention?
The Kindle Edition is just what this textbook needed to be the perfect resource for both graduate students and educators like myself... All the good things other reviewers have said plus the convenience of a digital version that I can bring everywhere. I use the Kindle software in the notebook to project the very good figures in the classroom...
The paper quality of this book is poor. It will rip easily while turning pages. Font was killing my vision. It was hard to see because it was so small. By the time I'm done with this book, I will have eye problems. Contents are good and great reference for case studies.
This book was forged from the realm of nursing, yet I am a 2nd-year Medical Student and I can tell you I use this book more than our own lectures. The level of detail perfect for understanding disease processes without memorizing facets and buzz-words.Something I learned about myself in medical school is that I absolutely resent memorizing. It makes me nauseous knowing I must get through material without understanding everything, which I discovered is what med student must learn to do; there is just not enough time to master the troves of content thrown at us every day. This book taught me that it doesn't have to be that way. I literally read each chapter in it's entirety and find that I have a very comfortable understanding. This systems approach to pathophysiology is structured, comprehensive, yet fluid enough to read without wasting time.
Tons of great content with no execution. Read and fall asleep, repeat. Incredibly boring. Zero retention. Only give it two stars because it has so much darn info in it. Stuff you would really never need to know dotted all over the place.
I am currently in nursing school and this book was required. This book it is a little harder to read. It does not explain some words and concepts thoroughly, the author just assumes you know what they mean. So make sure you keep your physiology textbook because this is definitely an upper division course book that expects you to know a lot of terminology. This text has a "key points" box at the end of each section and a summary section at the end of each chapter. I think the "key points'" box is extremely helpful. I wish that all of my textbooks had that feature. Overall I really like this book and the way it is organized.
This book was awesome. I rented it instead of purchasing it. I saved over $180 by renting it instead of buying it on campus and even , as always, sold it cheaper. The book is so detailed and has great pictures to study from. The material is very thorough. I love that the key points at the end of each section where informative but to the point. The book also comes with Esliever(I think thats the name) for study tips and practice questions which is free. You just have to sign up with the site and free study material. Great book for a great rental price and the online study at no additional charge. Every student can use that :)
This book was outstanding. It was a required text for my class. It was an easy read text with key-point highlight boxes for every few pages through out the chapter. If I didn't have enough time to read the chapter I read the key-points.
