I'm using this book for voice lessons. It has a nice selection of 22 traditional style Broadway standards. The accompaniment cd is very nice and is easy to follow. The score is accessible for most beginner/intermediate pianists. I recommend this title and the price is nice.
This is one of the two books our voice instructor requested. It's terrific for beginning voice students and has more fun, upbeat songs to practice with.
I like the variety of shows that are represented in this book. Many of them you can find either the show on DVD or a cast recording that will give good context information. The keys are good, I sightread through a bunch of the songs using the accompaniment CD and found at least 3 I really wanted to learn, with another 7 or so that I was also interested in. I think I can use this book for a long time, and expand my repertoire with great audition and performance material.
I've been using this book with my vocal coach, and it's wonderful. The accompaniment CD (can be purchased separately, make sure that you're buying book and/or CD as desired) is great, and the songs are a nice variety of very familiar Broadway favorites to a few more obscure songs that I'd never heard of and quickly grew to love.
Good song selection including a few surprise pieces such as "If I Ruled The World." I'm using it for teaching high school & college age singers who are preparing for musical auditions.
