If you can't get a ticket to this phenomenally funny musical, you now can finally get a full scale background of the show with terrific photographs of the original Broadway cast and song lyrics and script and how the show came to exist. If you have seen the show, this is so much better than just a program. This is the full story. It s so well done. I bought it at the show but now am ordering additional copies for people who love the show as much as I do
Much like the "making of" book for Rent which preceded this by about 15 years or so, the anecdotes not only of Parker/Stone/Lopez and the other creatives but the cast make this book a must-have for fans of the show. The only downside to the book is that the stories by the writers and even some of the designers seem culled from other interviews they've given rather than giving a fresh take.
Much better than the usual Broadway musical coffee table book. A lot of content presented in a deceptively breezy manner. Excellent commentary, tons of photos, technical and design contributions highlighted, as well as the complete script. The show is a remarkable achievement, after reading this you'll recognize the talent that crafted a ground breaking event.
I love this book so much! The show and music is an absolute masterpiece, and this book helps you to enjoy it even more. It contains all the lyrics, script, and history of what I believe is the greatest broadway musical of its time.
Anything you needed or wanted to know about the Book of Mormon the Musical. This was a really interesting book and I enjoyed reading it. I don't know why it fell just short of 5 stars, maybe because nothing can compare to the musical itself, or maybe because once you read the book, you really don't need to read it again. It was a great read, and I think its a great coffee table book. Anyone who did love the musical will love reading this and learning more. I am guessing I'll go back and read it again when it fades from my memory and I feel the need to remember and laugh again.
I loved reading about the process of this production. I am already in love with the soundtrack, but have yet to see the production. This book is the next best thing until I can attend a performance!! This book proves the brilliance of it's authors. I love the old musicals probably more than the new ones, and this is a new refreshing musical done in the manner of the golden age! The photos and renderings are great! The interviews are even better. Nice to have the script too.
I bought the book and also the original cast album because I had 'Best of Broadway' series tickets here in Cleveland. Enjoyed the book and the music before I attended the performance. A fantastic time was had by all. I attended a second performance on July 3rd and have a great Souvenir to enjoy. See the Show if you get the chance!!! Buy the book to enjoy before and after...
