I bought the book for my granddaughter who dances, giggles and rolls on the floor, so that one day she too may rock the stars.This inexpensive book will inspire youngsters to do their own thing while seeking a pathway to their own success. The empowering quotes of Misty Copeland resonate with the wonderful photos of Misty dancing in a studio and on an old piano. You can see that she is having the time of her life. The introduction by Misty’s first ballet instructor put a lump in my throat.
This is a powerful book. The photos and quotes do a wonderful job capturing and illustrating Misty's strong yet graceful being. I definitely recommend it to all readers, especially young women. Misty is an amazing role model.
I've never had a book that's perfect for my coffee table before, not until now. Most folks have books of European countries or photos of fantastic dinners and hors d' oeuvres. Me, I now have the lovely Misty Copeland. This young lady, used to play basketball and dance at the Boys and Girls Club- having fun just being a kid. But her teacher saw something special in her and managed to get her a scholarship. Four years later, she was the first African-American female principal dance for the American Ballet Theatre. Richard Corman's book, Misty Copeland: Power and Grace shows the magic of the blessings she was given and the opportunity to become what many "little brown girls" only dream of! The photos show litheness, symmetry, and inventiveness. She's not only beautiful but what she does with her body and those magical feet is beyond dance. This more of a picture book than a novella or novel, but it's one that your table will crave! I'm so happy to have received such a lovely book! Beautiful book with a powerful message for young girls, especially Black girls. I ordered this for my 13 year old grand niece who is very interested and active in dance. She loved the book.
In process of reading but no finished. So far I love this autobiography. She is amazing and an amazing role model. Her philanthropy is awesome.
Like the book. Full of different pics. Suitable for a young girl, not so much for reading but more for looking. Young readers would enjoy.
I sent it back. It was beautiful picture but we were looking for more to read about Misty. It was too expensive to pictures only.
I was very impressed with Misty Copeland's book and Firebird. My niece was thrilled to see an African American ballerina in such a prestigious role. She is a great role model.
