I needed this book for a course in summer, and the description does not make clear that there is no access code provided for the Pearson online material (MyStatLab) which needs to be purchased from them separately for $85USD. Be aware!!! The 3rd edition provides a packaged access code for an additional sum, so do not purchase 4th edition if you need online access!
I am pursuing my MBA online at University of Phoenix and am currently in a business statistics class. One of the topics is estimating binomial probabilities using the normal distribution. I have never understood how to solve these problems (for about 25 years!), but this book helped me to finally understand how to solve the problems. The explanation was clear and concise without a lot of extra words to confuse the reader. Thank you so much!

The textbook is heavy, the pages are poorly organized and somewhat schizophrenic, and examples are very brief when explaining concepts. I would like to see more examples of concepts, instead of the '1 then ur done.' I ended up withdrawing from my online Stats class because the textbook taught me less than the internet did. Also, the pages possess large margins of white space on both sides of the text, example, and filler boxes; the wasted space ought to have been minimized instead of lengthening the textbook without adding content. The book looks serious, but did not teach concepts seriously. There is little help for students when working on problems, because the content of the book is scant.
This textbook is a decent introduction to statistics. Usually as an introduction text, its a mile wide and an inch deep. This textbook is no different, you'll learn everything from graphs and charts, to various types of distribution. The CD that comes with the textbook is confusing, but it did have one pdf with a summary of formulas for each chapter which was extremely helpful. The only major problem with this textbook is the problems. They are simply too predictable and often won't prepare you for the real world or even worse... an exam. Overall, this is a decent introductory textbook, not the worst but also not the best on the subject. Its done to earth and the beginner should have no problem picking it up. One final note, it also contains guides on how to use the statistics function on the TI-83, which is almost a must have if you plan on learning from this textbook.
Beware, just because the title clearly states, "...NEW MyStatLab with Pearson eText-- Access Card Package," that doesn't mean that it comes with an access code.
I ordered this book NEW thinking it included mystatslab access. My professor said all 4th editions (New) came with it. Now it's close to another $100 to get a code. I would have been better off used w a code. The publisher and need to sync messages. As for the book, I'm about 1/3 through. I'm understanding it pretty well. The # of exercises is a little overkill, so I only pick a few. I wish the answers had more detail on the set-up for each problem. Overall, I'm OK with the book but the access code is an issue. I saw the used didn't have the code so went new. Easy mistake.
Did not come with an access code (as advertised). When I contacted ...the only solution was to return it and rent another. They also recommended that I pay for overnight shipping myself. Although the book is advertised as having an access code, it says in the fine print that the codes are not guaranteed. My class has now started and now I don't have an access code to do the homework. Although I have had great experiences with Rentals, this has been disappointing and the title is very misleading.
