my library had just about every guide to help plan my upcoming trip so I have pretty much read them all. I found this guide lacked the detail needed for independent travel (best done by Rough Guide and Lonely Planet) but also didnt have as much back ground information as the Insight Guide which would be best for those on a booked organised tour who dont need information on where to stay and eat (because tour has organised this).Thus I found this Eye Witness Guide and the Fodors guide to be stranded in the middle. Both lack lots of good maps and detail for planning independent vacation such as which routes most scenic etc. At least this Eye Witness guide has nice glossy pages and lots of colour photos and little cut away diagrams of some of the famous buildings and places to see etc, which makes it the better of these 2 guides but I struggle to see which market this guide is designed for?safe travels from david in melbourne australia
