This books comes bundled with an access code for Connect, which is an online portion of the book. This was required for my online anatomy class. The entire book is also on the website so if an actual book is not important to you, all you really need is the Connect Access card. This Connect card costs $150 on its own and is only good for one registration. My point is that if you are renting this book and the Connect code is required for your class, you may be wasting your money. If it doesn't come with the card, you will be paying money to rent the book but you will still have to buy the code separately as well. My school had a couple of cards for purchase in the bookstore in the case of people who bought their book used or rented it.The book itself weighs a ton. I don't think I've ever had a textbook quite as heavy. Overall the book seems nice though and the online Connect portion is really helpful. You can purchase a loose-leaf version of this book from the Connect website and as mentioned before, the entire book is also on the website.
Most orders DO NOT come with the Connect Plus access card which renders this textbook useless! For sanity and for the money in your wallet, do not buy this on . would make a fortune if they guaranteed the cards, but alas they do not!
Awesome book. Brand new, came with new online code. The book itself is pretty great. Easy to understand. Online access code is wonderful, lots of different activities to help you learn. If you're pre-med or nursing i would suggest not reselling the book after the course is over.
This book presents anatomy in a way that I can understand it. I have been through this class before but never with the support of connect and APR. I am thoroughly impressed with the clear explanations, lots of visual representation and learning support available. I have used very few flashcards throughout this course because with this learning system they aren't really necessary. I highly recommend more professors use this book and connect. I am currently keeping an A- average and highly support and recommend this book and program as a learning platform.
Having used similar textbooks, I think this one manages to stand out among the competition in terms of clarity, organization, accuracy, conciseness, integration, cross-references, pedagogy and esthetics.
Fantastic Book!! You will need for A &P I and II, with Connect Plus Card. The book goes into so much more detail than Connect; however, connect is helpful with tests and studying for tests. The book is very heavy, so find a lab partner that will rotate bringing the book to class. McKinley really breaks down the material so it is much easier to understand how the body works. It helped me to memorize bones, muscles, etc by printing pictures from book and putting on index card. Beware of loose leaf versions! They do not hold up, even in a binder. Always get the book. You do pay a little more, but it is better than having to tape the loose leaf papers back together, or worse, having them fall out of your binder....the pages are super thin, and incredibly fragile. Go with the book, and make sure you have connect card with it!
I got this right on estimated delivery, and it came sealed and with a connect card just as I expected. Completely brand new. Note that this textbook is super expensive, so it's not gonna be fun lugging this around.
I bought the book new. When I opened the package the binding on the front cover was completely destroyed. It is ripped and it seems like the cover is going to fall off. I do not know if this happened in delivery or it was not new when I bought it, but I am extremely disappointed; especially because I need this book for a year and if the cover falls off I am not sure what I will do to help protect the book from more damage. I also paid for this book to be in excellent condition when I got it and it is not in excellent condition.
