As an early years teacher with an interest in puppetry,I find this book an inspiration. It is easy to follow, and best of all, you can do the plays on your own or with others. The narration is easy to learn, read or follow. The instructions for most of them are simple, and I have had a lot of fun making the scenery out of everyday materials. It is so nice that we are encouraged to make or find our own puppets to use. There are many puppets which you can buy which are suitable, but I have also sourced simple standing puppet instructions for table top shows which is what I prefer to use in the classroom. What Estelle Bryer has accomplished is extraordinary, and I hope I can help children enjoy puppet shows as much as she has.
We are puppeteers and have been using everything from this book for many years. We built a portable puppet theater and made scenery and props from directions in the book - very clear and easy to follow. The stories we present to the children (ages 2-7) are from this book, and we also sing the songs composed - very successfully. The children love the stories and the music.
