I thought that this was a very thorough and easy-to-read textbook. It presented the information clearly and the progression of career development theories was in a logical order. My only complaint was that I occasionally had difficulty finding and referencing things that I knew I had read. It was something about the way the headings and index worked.

I had to read this book for a required class. I cannot recommend it unless you are really, really interested in doing only career counseling. The book is probably adequate, but most of the theories it describes are repetitive and not exactly rocket science. I doubt their usefulness to either clients or counselors. Much of the information here could easily be summarized, leaving room for a more in depth exploration of the process of actually counseling clients.

Worst book I have used in counseling to date. Lengthy, boring and useless as far as getting to the point. Sure it is probably required reading for your class, but buy it used, it is kindling afterwards.

I wish "zero stars" was an option. This is the most horribly written text book I have ever read....and I've read a ton during undergrad, law school, MBA program, and now in a Master's program for counseling. It's repetitive, poorly organized, unclear, and unnecessarily elaborative in areas that I didn't even know could be elaborated upon. Excessively belaboring. I will learn more by googling the topics to be covered in this class than I will from this book.

Loose Leaf edition save me so much money! Perfect condition - all you have to do is get a big binder and you are good to go!

I learned a lot from this text...like the trait and factor theory, Super's model, and so on. It was not so easy to read but it contained the necessary components for Career Counseling.

While I have no issues with the content of the book itself the state to which this book was delivered was not what I had expected. The book was rated as "used acceptable" but I have barely used the book and pages are already falling out and the spine/binding is extremely damaged. I am extremely kind to my books and as stated have barely used, touched, or opened it since receiving this book and it is already falling apart.

This book does a great job of explaining the theories most important to career counseling. Would recommend this to any career counseling master's student.
