This book is comprehensive, detailed, and helpful. However, it is not small. I find an issue with this since it seems like such a waste of paper to have the borders be over an inch thick. I do not mind so much that it is that large, it should be big to contain all the information that one would need for the DAT, but the spacing is ridiculous at times. Based on the borders alone this book could be two inches shorter in width and height - though if someone knows more than I do about book structure (which I admittedly know little about) maybe it was made this thick so that the paperback book would stay together.I actually would much rather have all the sections separated so that I could carry biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and the rest around during my day - to - day activities. The size of this book does not allow for this at all. I know there are other books that I could purchase in order to do this, but I also wanted to save money (and get some practice tests!) as the actual test is NOT cheap. Since that was the reason I bought it all together, I guess I should stop complaining about its size.This book is great for review since the topics you cover should have been covered more in depth during a college course. I would suggest some other material along with this if you were to be learning a subject without having taken a course before. The practice tests are also very very helpful! I have not set a date for my test yet, but I do feel confident with my ability to do well once I am done with this book.
The review portion of the book is pretty comprehensive. but when it comes to the questions, they are worthless. Way, way too easy. PAT review is ok. Again, questions are too easy but does provide some strategies for the types of questions. Math review is lacking. Science review is where it really is good.My recommendation, buy the book, use it for content review, but buy something like Destroyer for questions. And whatever you do, STAY FAR AWAY FROM ADA'S PRACTICE EXAM ON THEIR WEBSITE
Kaplan probably does a great job with standardized tests like MCAT, but DAT is definitely not one of them. The Science review portion was okay, but the PAT section really wasn't helpful. The PAT exercises provided in the book is significantly different from the difficulty of the online exam, so be prepared that your PAT score of online practice test is way lower than what you expected. The Quantitive Reasoning part of the online practice test isn't very comprehensive and is easier than the actual test.

Very helpful, informative, and worthwhile. It really helps you prepare yourself for the DAT for a very reasonable price.
My girlfriend loves the book, and loves the mini tests. She feels it is preparing her well for the DAT in August and thanks to this book isn't worried at all.
My husband used these for studying for the DAT (obviously) and he swears by these books. He got several materials to study with, including practice tests online, and said that these were his favorite. In order to adequately prepare, he need to study with more than just these books. That isn't because they aren't comprehensive or don't cover enough material - it's just because of how much really is assessed on the DAT. The practice tests were very helpful as well. He got a 21 on both the practice tests and on the actual test.
It's okay for geneeal studies and review but not great for the true exam
