I've met Sandy Puc' (briefly) at one of the many workshops she puts on around the country every year for professional photographers. She is both a talented photographer and a pretty good teacher, and both of those aspects shine through in this book. The book, targeted to professional photographers wanting to either expand into or improve their baby photography offerings, does a decent job of showing how it can be done. Sandy covers the subject from multiple angles: not just taking the shots (at various ages), but also marketing, gear (briefly), package creation and pricing, maternity sessions, consultations with the client, and her photography philosophy in general. Sandy tends to focus on high-end photography (pricey, fairly styled shoots), but many of the suggestions in the book carry over to other price points and shooting styles. Her book is very readable, and not terribly long. I finished it in a couple hours of reading. While there's not a ton of text here, it's still filled with content I found valuable (I shoot mostly seniors and weddings, but some of those brides end up having children, and I've recently had one of my own, and have been considering expanding into that market as well).Who this book is NOT for: individual parents, just wanting to learn to take better photos of their own children. There's not much here for that audience, and a book like The Design Aglow Posing Guide for Family Portrait Photography would be a better choice. It's also not really a general photography book for anyone.
