The intro to this book suggests using it to spark your creativity if you're feeling in a slump. It can do just that. While the title is focused on the posing aspect of the images it is also a great book to find inspiration in composition, settings, and props. As visual people (since we are photographers) this book shows you what you want to know quite simply. I received this book in order to review it and I feel lucky that I did with how much I can learn from it.
These are inspirational ideas for the photographing of small children. They are not the be-all to end-all by any means since each child is different and will respond to requests to pose differently. The author presents some wonderful examples and suggestions that should be of great help to anyone wanting to photograph children either professionally or for one's own enjoyment.
500 poses, I am a big fan of this series of books by Michele. Just think of it as a Posing Guide, a Idea book. All you need to do if you photograph Babies to toddlers is get this book and get ideas for your poses. The second benefit is that there are a A LOT of good ideas in this book as well for background ideas, and props. This book is not about lighting or equipment there are other books for that. Look this is just to EASY, get the book, study the poses, and just review before a shoot. Make a plan of 3 to 6 poses you want to do with a baby (that is all you are going to have time for or most babies will give you) With this book you can work smarter, quicker and more profitably.
It's a great book for ideas and inspiration, but it is lacking modern day poses that are appealing to today's clients. Overal good to spark your own creativity and build on them.
The pictures are worth the price of admission. I loved reading and looking at the examples to find uses in my work and personal pictures. A great source of information.
Some cute ideas for poses, if you can get the kid to cooperate! I like that it has individual, sibling and family poses.
