This textbook gives clear explanations of basic statistical concepts, including discussions of normality, probability distributions, and sampling theory. Although it is aimed at students in biology, it is sufficiently general that it would make an excellent beginning stats primer for anyone.
My professor said there are many mistakes in this book that were not in the earlier editions; if I had the choice, I would've gone with the 3rd edition because it was cheaper and basically the same as the 4th edition. All in all though, a good statistics intro textbook.
The Kindle reading system is horrible. I can't scroll, edit my interface in the slightest (such as moving the fullscreen button so I don't accidentally hit it on my touchscreen when trying to access the zoom feature), and their customer support is nonexistent. The solution manual itself is not helpful, and I sincerely regret having purchased this semesters textbooks in this format
I rented this book and I am very happy with it. It did come with some answers written in with pencil, so I do have to erase, but I am not that lazy to complain about it. :) I just simple erase before I start the chapter. It came speedy and in good condition!
This statistics book is great for understanding statistical concepts without the assistance of a professor. The text is backed up by relevant tables and charts and clearly explains each statistical concept before going on to the next. The examples and problems are very realistic to statistically based problems that pertain to Life Science or Natural Resource fields.
Concise and easy to understand, can easily cover all the chapters in 10 weeks and it even tells you what is optional! For first timers this may be a bit challenging to understand but not too tough. This book makes learning biostatistics a bit easier.
The book is fine, its in great condition so to speak, the pages them selves are semi clean with occasional scribblings of some past user. All the written text was still legible, but the hardcover (I ordered the hardcover) fell off the moment I opened the book, which is where the problem ends, functional book just with a fallen cover.
Came exactly as described. It's a text book so it fulfills its purpose. Has answers to a few questions in the back of the book as most math books do. Just a side note for those taking Stats - its not really a math class. More so a data analysis class. I recommend getting a TI30
