I really enjoyed this book - the beginning gently brought the reader into the options world with handy pictures of risk profiles. The examples, although not completely exhaustive, showed the psychology, methodology, etc. as well as supportive charts about Greeks and Risk Profiles as you read an example. I've traded a butterfly and condor with confidence after reading this book. Various spread trades were also shown which were helpful. I would recommend the options play book as well apart from this book. Appendix covered a lot where there wasn't an example. All in all this is a great book to start with for options. My interest now is heading toward technical analysis. Many brokerage firms offer 2 major tools for option trader - profit calculator and chart, as well as probability spectrum for trade potential.
A good beginners book. I learned enough to be dangerous to myself. Knowing what options are and how to execute their trade is not enough to play the game. It's like knowing the fundamentals of poker and being placed at a high-roller table in Vegas. You really need a class and a mentor to play this game.
The book is designed to sell you the monthly membership in several other websites. The author has created a "special indicator" that is only available for those who sign up to the membership of his additional websites. This is marketing and upsell at its "finest." Other than the upsell, which is constant all the way throughout the book, the book itself is ok, though you must prepare to be tried to buy the membership of the other websites when you read this book.
Book is full of information, but the charts are hard to read on my Kindle. I would probably suggest you buy it in hard copy form.
This is a good starter book. However this is the 3rd edition and to have many errors, or any errors at all in a 3rd edition is unacceptable. Even more so in a financial area where errors can cost a lot of money.Kept wondering if it was meticulously proofread, or if so, the editor didn't understand all the tricky nuances of options trading.Wouldn't recommend it for anyone trying to understand the theory and consequences of Options trading.
Very well written, detailed and complete. Graphics and tables are excellent. I love the chapter on the psychology of trading and the need to be in a good physical and emotional space when trading.Despite the excellence of this book I came away realizing that experience is the best teacher and further researching options trading is necessary.Murray
The author offers basic option clarity.The illustrations used simplify the overall learning process and a quick referral when one needs to refresh his memory as he goes deeper into option applications, of which, seem to be endless.
If you like to nail down your concepts, this is an excellent book. Mr. Cohen puts things in perspective very well. However, if you like to make money, you really need to understand Options in-depth. You will need to learn lot more before you can have consistently winning trades.
