7-22-12. I recently bought the Nikon D3200 camera and am slowly (time constraints) learning about the terriffic tool. This is my first DSLR and I needed a lot of help, as struggling throught the Nikon User Manual (requires downloading from Nikon Website) is tedious and ...well...boring. I'm a technical writer by profession and appreciate well constructed and edited literature. David Busch's Nikon D3200 Guide to Digital SLR Photography is one of the best instruction manuals I have read. I'm only on chapter three but have learned so much, principly due to the personable writing style in which David presents a technical subject. He adds his own creative insight and comments that make the details easy to remember and therefore more effective to apply in using the Nikon D3200. I'm excited about reading the remainder of the book and actually using the tool to produce some thoughtful photographs that are more technically competent than those I have done in prior years with point and shoot equipment. Thanks David.7-23-12. David's recommendations for D3200 sensor cleaning are "spot-on" (play on words intentional). After much research of the tools and techniques in Chapter 13, I was able to purchase the all best tools and supplies from for $132. As he advises, do your "homework" before you tackle sensor cleaning, but you can do it carefully. Following his advice you can avoid much dust contamination of the sensor, but on occasions it will need to be done and camera service centers are expensive with results no better than yours (if you do it well). Great advice David.
At first I was hesitant about buying this book since, in the past, I quickly looked at the book and then never read it. This book, however, is different. First, Busch assumes nothing and is detailed without being pedantic! For instance, sometimes I wondered where on the screen or page I would find an particular icon (particularly if it sometimes has 2 names)- well, Busch tells you "it is the nth icon down on the right side of the page" etc. This is great! Often it is easy to get lost in some of the detail of explanations - Busch keeps you on track without treating you like a dummy.I have been using Nikon cameras for over 10 years and this book is the BEST tool I have found for taking full advantage of all of the capability of the new camera (Nikon D 3200).I would recommend this book for anyone who would like have greater control of any features of the D3200 and become a better photographer than before. No, I am not David Busch, I don't sell his books, I am an advanced amateur photographer, and I like items that perform as promised (and then some).
The owners manual for the D3200 explains all the features and functions of the camera but, if you really want to learn how to use them to their fullest - you need to get David Busch's Nikon D3200 Guide to Digital SLR Photography. I have been a serious amateur photographer for nearly 40 years and while I know a great deal about photography and have owned non-SLR digital cameras, the D3200 is my first sophisticated digital SLR camera. The D3200 has the ability to let you take great pictures right out of the box with its automatic settings but the depth of its abilities would be unrealized without additional guidance. Nikon describes this camera as "entry level" but its capabilities are far beyond that so if you (like me) don't have the experience with a digital SLR of this caliber, you're going to need some help to take really awesome pictures. David takes you through a logical progression in understanding the features of the camera and then explains how to utilize them to your advantage. He doesn't just tell you the what but also explains the why. This book will get you up to speed on this camera and you will soon be taking amazing pictures.
I have recently purchased the Nikon D3200 camera and found that there was more to learn than what is in the pamphlet and on the CD ROM. David Busch's guide is extremely helpful. There is alot that can be done with the camera and the guide provides information on items that you may not have thought of. I highly recommend this guide for the D3200.
I liked very much!!! Very Good!!All informations you need it's here. Illustrated and easy to learn. Everyone Will love it
David Busch's is absolutely the best guide for this camera. The author goes through every screen on the camera, in color, and explains how to access each item. Unlike several other books sells for the Nikon D 3200, this one delivers the goods. And the best part is how to use the camera in all modes and why one setting is superior in a particular situation to another. Also, his discussion on lenses and flash are worth the price of the book alone. David Busch has been using DSLR cameras and writing about them for years and really knows his stuff.I would buy it again if I lose my copy........Thank youGary Causer
This manual covers all of the topics required to make the most out of your Nikon D3200 camera. Best of all, it teaches you photography while teaching you the specifics of YOUR particular camera.
