Step By Step Bond Investing - A Beginner's Guide To The Best Investments And Safety In The Bond Market: Step By Step Investing, Volume 3
Download Free (EPUB, PDF)

Of all the opportunities to invest and make money, bond investing is likely one of the most neglected. Stocks are the get-rich investment, hyped by Wall Street and favored by investors. Commodities are widely used to hedge risk and to gamble on price changes. Even real estate is more widely held for its cash flow and other benefits. According to research by fund manager Vanguard, the average investor holds just 15 percent of their portfolio in bonds. Since older investors typically hold much more of their investments in fixed-income, it's safe to assume that many younger investors are neglecting bond investment all together. What you might not realize is that bonds are critical to reaching your financial goals. No other investment provides the kind of safety and security you'll get from bonds, and few other investments provide the kind of cash flow you'll get from these fixed-income opportunities. In fact, manage your bonds right and you might not need much more to meet your financial goals. You'll get stable returns for decades and won't have to worry about constant crashes in the stock market. You'll get nearly guaranteed cash flows to pay for expenses and the retirement you deserve. Putting a portfolio of bonds together that will meet your goals can be surprisingly easy if you know where to start. Understand bond basics and how to avoid the mistakes that cost other investors money, and you'll find an investment that's easier to manage than any other while moving you closer to financial freedom. This book will do exactly that, help you put together a step-by-step investing strategy in bonds to understand how much of your portfolio to invest and how to do it.

I'm a relative novice at investing. I've dabbled here and there in stocks, index funds, and ETFs. Bonds are always touted as the safe investing tool for those who want a low risk, lower reward investment to put their money into while still making more than they would in a savings account.Hogue does an excellent job of taking the reader through the steps of investing in bonds and the many ways that you can invest in bonds. It's a short read that I came away from with a better understanding of how bonds work, and what the best ways of going about investing in them is.If you're curious about investing in bonds, I recommend you give this book a quick read.

As an investor, I found this book to be very useful. The world of bonds is not usually a talked about subject nor is it an exciting one. Maybe because it falls in the realm of fixed assets. Most who enter the world of paper investing get excited about the returns on stocks. Though, bonds do play an important role. In this book, Joseph explains why bonds are essential to any portfolio and explores the different kinds of bonds available. Furthermore, he offers a bond investing strategy which can be useful for anyone whether new or experienced. Buy it today!

Too many investors avoid bond investing because they aren’t as hyped as stocks or other investments. The author does a good job of pointing out the advantages of bonds against these other investments and why you should build a bond investing strategy for your portfolio. The book flows really well. It may not seem like much but I’ve read other bond investing books that jump around and you never really get an understanding of the why, what and how of bonds. After the why, the author covers the basics of bond prices and types of bonds in which you can invest. Finally, the book covers how to invest in bonds through funds and individual fixed-income securities and a strategy to maintain your investments.

The book breaks down bond investing in 70 pages and an hour!Mr. Hogue is a military veteran who understands investing from over a decade of financial analysis. He's keenly aware of the risks that impact the rewards, and he shows how bonds reduce a portfolio's volatility while still earning money. After covering the four different types of bonds and their five risks, he weaves them into a simple strategy for income as well as maximum returns. You have to learn about investing from somewhere, and you have to learn enough to be confident when the markets are down. You'll figure it out quickly from this book and you'll put it to work. I particularly enjoyed learning how the bond yield curve will twist around and become inverted just a few months before the economy goes into a recession. I'll pay attention to that leading indicator!

I aced bond math in grad B-school, but wanted to know more about the gotchas of actual bond investing, as an average investor, this book was very useful. It confirmed much of what I already knew, but also gave me pointers on how to go about getting low-fee bonds in the maturities I wanted, and reminded me of strategies for evening out returns, e.g., ladders.

As long as humans age, bonds will continue to be important investment vehicles. And while they seem to be a no-brainer because they are the safest of all investments, you will learn how to maximize your return without risking them all. You need this book for that.

I have invested in stocks through my company and an online trading account but have never done any bond investing. The book was very helpful in understanding what are bonds as an investment and how they are different from stocks. The author does a good job of explaining the advantages of bonds as well as the investing risks. You will come away with a good understanding of the types of bond investments and how to use each for your own investment plan. I liked the section on peer lending as it seems like a good tradeoff between the higher returns of stocks and the safety of bonds. The author tells it straight about how to work with bond dealers and get the best price available. Lots of information to help you do well with bond investing.

I’ll have to admit that I never paid much attention to investing in bonds. It was always a little confusing and the returns don’t look that good. I picked this book up because I know bonds should be a part of an investing strategy but I wasn’t really sure where to begin. The book goes as far into understanding bond prices and interest rates as I wanted it to. I’ve tried to read other bond investing books and couldn’t handle the formulas for bond prices. The book does a good job of giving you enough information to understand bond investing, especially the risks to rising interest rates. The section on types of bonds is very helpful and goes over government bonds, municipals, corporate bonds and even peer lending. The investing strategy helps to show how to decide how much to invest in bonds and from which type. Overall, a good job at explaining why bonds should be part of a wealth management strategy and how to put it together with funds and individual bonds.
