As a vintage car enthusiast, looking at all the crumpled old cars shown in "Crash!" that were once beautiful sculptures is fascinating though a bit unsettling. Some photos leave the viewer wondering how the car could have been twisted that way or left positioned so strangely. Fortunately, information on some crashes was available to the author. The book is a quick read and is at the very least a reminder to fasten your selt belt and drive safely or else become the subject of a sequel!
This book is quite interesting as an automotive engineer I found the photos quite interesting to study for a number of reasons.1 safety, the massive advances of safety in automobiles are profound, especially when you see how the early 1920's cars just broke apart on impact. no seat belts in these cars.2 the cars and all the different models are really interesting as are the places in the background, a time capsule of America. This book is well worth looking at carefully, how some of these people survived the crashes is amazing. enjoy.
This book is filled with intriging photo's of mishaps, and crunches. My husband found this to be his favorite book. Its just curious nature I guess, to see these once beautiful cars now twisted, and mangled.
I bought this book after seeing a review in the Sunday paper sometime before Christmas. It was intended as a stocking stuffer for my son. He has told me recently that this is one of his favorite books and thought that it was a pretty cool gift. If you like old cars and crashes then I guess this is the book for you!
Photo quality and reproduction is good. Most crashes depicted are just fender benders. Captions of photos tend to be a bit corny but do give a lot of information. I gave it three stars.
