My wife has dementia. My responsibilities as a husband and caregiver are to provide for her and to be the caretaker of her memories so I can pass them to my daughter and she can pass those memories to her generation. We live in Franklinton, North Carolina, and I always carry my camera with me. After 40 years as a photojournalist it's hard not to have a camera. These images tell the story of my journey to the store, to my swim class or dropping my daughter off to school. Moments captured seeing the light and moving on. It seems like I'm always moving on. My tasks as a caregiver are demanding, but it's a road that I must travel. We all had dreams to retire travel, write the great novel or just sit and hold hands and watch the sunset. It's all changed now, and that's why I have a commitment and a responsibility to make a difference with my work. It's time for all of us to make a difference. Together we can help change the future.

The author is a man on a mission. His excellent photographs combined with the elegant book design should support his goal; sell books and give all of the profits to Alzheimer's research. Inspiring others to do the same might create a buzz, too. I bought this book from to get it first, then three more today from his local bookstore so the author can sign them. Folks who like photography books should buy this to help continue supporting this charity goal.
I received this book, "20 Minutes From Home" as a gift and to me this is a must-read for anyone experiencing dementia as a caregiver, friend or family member. The author, Robert Ringham, beautifully views the thoughts, fears and wishes of those affected with this disease. He further enhances these feelings with gorgeous photos that are his own. When this book is purchased, 100% of the proceeds go to this cause and I will be giving this book as a gift now also.
Bob Ringham has captured in words and pictures the beauty, love and sadness in every life. Bob's devotion to his wife, Peg, and his talent for photographing the world around them, gives a perfect shape to this particular record of the path every one of us walks in one form or another. It's a wonderful book.
