My Cool Shed is one of a series of books on small spaces that are beautiful or alluring either by accident or design. As we downsize, my spouse and I both dream of having a shed and this book inspires our imaginations. In fact, we may just skip the house altogether in retirement and have a couple of sheds, side by side, where we contentedly create into our senescence. Lovely photographs, informative text and good list of suppliers and designers all make this small book both charming and useful.
There isn't really much here that is inspirational. It's a small and somewhat random collection of photos of small utility buildings done up nicely into studios and playhouses. The photos are nice, the paper quality is ok, but there aren't really any guiding principles. "Someone did this ... and then someone else did that." You don't really get ideas, you just leaf through going "Oh ... that's sort of nice." It's a coffee table book, not a helpful design toolbox.
I bought this book for my husband, who dreams of having a shed in our backyard. The creative buildings and beautiful photography combine for a fun, imaginative book to read over and over again.
Bought for a friend who was venturing off into a creative field. Book is smaller than a traditional coffee table book but was very well received nonetheless.
This is a cute book. Not really very inspirational or motivating. The sheds chosen by the author were just okay.
this little book is lovely and inspiring and quite creative. it holds lots of ideas, and some good solutions for small spaces' sometimes subtle problems.
