This piqued my interest because I am a pharmacist and was interested in reviewing the topics covered throughout this book. Overall, I think it is a great overview of disease states and expectations for taking the NAPLEX. I took the exam 14 years ago, and when I first started reading this KAPLAN book, it brought back all of the anxiety and overwhelming feeling of taking the test all over again. That being said, you definitely need to prepare yourself for your boards. This book should be used purely as a review and not a learning tool. KAPLAN has suggested study times per chapter. You will be investing a huge chunk of time studying, and rightfully so.What I like about this review book:1) It has up-to-date information available on their website. Therefore, if there is a misprint or any last minute changes KAPLAN posts them on their website: [...] At the time of this review, all information of this book was up to date and accurate (I was curious.)2) The information is fairly thorough. The chapters are arranged by disease states (ie...Cardiovascular Disorders, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonary Disorders, Oncology, etc...) Each disease state focuses on: definitions of disease, diagnosis, signs and symptoms, guidelines, guidelines summary, medication charts, storage & administration pearls, and patient education pearls. There is also a section on pharmaceutical sciences, mathematics (pharmacokinetics , alligations, parenteral nutrition, compounding, etc...) and biostatistics.3) Two practice tests. One in the book and one online. There are also practice questions at the end of each disease state chapter.4) It explains what to expect on the test. Such as test question formats, test-taking strategies, what to expect the day of the test.
