When I first started using this book, I thought it was pretty good. Information seemed accurate and well presented in an easily understandable format. As the class has gone on, I have caught several editorial mistakes with names of muscles, chapters of charts, etc.
This text is too full of mistakes and omissions to be considered a quality tool in the classroom. When a student is asked to learn the origins and insertions of muscles in the body, it needs to be done from a well respected, accurate source. To learn from a text riddled with errors, is setting the student up for failure in their prospective field. IF YOUR INSTRUCTOR HAS YOU USING THIS BOOK, CAMPAIGN TO HAVE IT CHANGED! DON'T SHORT CHANGE YOUR FUTURE BY USING THIS TEXT!!
This book was selected for a clinical kinesiology class and in the few places that it's accurate, the information is so broad and vague as to basically be useless. Don't even get me started about the information that is flat out WRONG! I suppose it would be helpful for professors to see who bothered actually thinking through the questions versus just copying the answers out of the back of the book, but other than that, there is no point to using it. The professor is currently using three different sources plus whatever she can scrounge on the internet to give us useful information. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The lab manual is only passable at best also.
This review is for the digital version. It's pretty good, but digital textbooks have not lived up to their potential yet. There are still so many limitations on flipping back and forth to compare passages, or easily being able to find one book mark vs another. I wish there was a special book mark for a place you keep going back to, like a table or an answer key. I also wish you could underline as well as highlight, like you would do in a real book.
This text is required for my OT kinesiology course. It has definitely been helpful and keeps the chapters short so it is easy to manage. It is a great SUPPLEMENT, however, I would not recommend it if you do not have a professor who requires the book and points out flaws in it. My professor has stated several mistakes that the book makes, although they were all relatively unimportant, this should not happen in a textbook. Overall, the book is pretty decent and helps me with my studying and to better understand my lectures.
Just received my workbook today, opened package, started flipping through book which was listed as "good condition", and it's missing pages... It has 1-10, then 27-42, then 27-230. So I'm missing 11-26, but have duplicates of 27-42. I'm very disappointed bc I will be using this book in the fall for my A&K 1 class... would be nice not to have to worry about missing pages that were not disclosed upfront.
Do not waste your money. Photo copy the person's book next to you in class. This book is full of mistakes, it's the 5th edition, these errors should be corrected by now.
I received this book a little before it was expected and it's been necessary for my Kinesiology lab class. It was not listed as required, but you cannot make it through the class without it. Thank you!
