I am in the RN program and if you are in this program you know calculations is a major part of it. I had used a different calculation book before this and I can truly say this made everything clear for me. I was over thinking and doing extra steps in many of my calculations. This book really helped clear up a lot of my questions and problems I was having. It gives you quick formulas that don't have you going in circles.Hope this helps :-)
I purchased this for my Foundations course in Nursing school. We were required to buy this textbook, and I'm really glad my professor used this author/edition. It makes the concepts really clear and has so much information. I like the practice questions that it has, and I like how it gives explanations/rationales to the answers. Each semester we have to take a dosages calculations exam so that we are able to practice in the clinical setting and I always refer to this book to review.
Absolutely love this book! I've tried Safe Medicate and Dosage Calculations Made Incredibly Easy, but this book is the one resource that gave me a solid understanding, in a way that I can breeze through the problems.The ONLY thing I dislike about this book is that it does not provide all the answers for the practice questions. There is one section in each chapter for "additional exercises" that the book does not provide the answers for. These are 20 questions. However, there are plenty of practice questions that do have answers in the back of the book, including to the comprehensive case study questions at the end of each ch.I love the workspace the book allows, the clear pictures (If you want to practice with labels and word problems, you got it), and how each chapter gives lots of step by step examples shown in dimensional analysis and ratio proportion methods side-by-side. The Formula method is also used, but not for every example. This reinforces learning all 3 methods at once though.I also like how the book introduces just enough medication information, not just teaching calculations. For example, 1-3 pages about insulin or heparin in the beginning of a chapter.I need to score a 100 on the medication test the first week I'm back in school! So this book is invaluable to me. I'm just finishing up chapter 9, and have gone through this fairly fast. I had pharmacology 1 last semester, but did not feel I had a strong background or knowledge. The class went so fast! Thank God I got this book because I feel a lot more relieved and confident now.
I have a pass/fail nursing dosage calculation test every quarter and this book has helped me so much! I feel like it gives me the most advanced problems out there and I love that it gives a step by step rational to how the answer was found. Really enjoy this book!

Math has always been one of my worst subjects and drug calculations was the most intimidating part of nursing for me. I found this book to be a huge help! It breaks down formulas simply and explains things clearly. Definitely recommend this book to nursing students.
this book is pretty clear and simple. Dosage Calc is really just basic algebra, but this book will walk you through each step and provides many practice problems.
