As a student in a museum studies graduate program, I've enjoyed this book. There are hints of sarcasm that can help ease the dullness of subjects like managing loans. As dry as some of the material can be, Genoways and Ireland do a great job covering the various aspects included in the running of a museum. I would highly suggest this book to anyone in the museum field.

This was an assigned text so probably one of the better texts available in the opinion of my professor...but it was published in 2002 and has too much outdated information. The general principles and theories are well covered and exercises are interesting. The writing is very clear and relatively jargon-free. A minor quibble is the layout: pages of widely spaced chapter endnotes which should have been condensed in a much smaller type.

This book is filled with great examples, exercises and information. It makes you think about circumstances and situations that you would never ordinarily even consider. Gave me a "rounded" impression of the admistrative needs within the museum "world". Really good for someone like me, who has never worked in a museum, per se, but now finds themselves (luckily) working in a related field. Highly recommend.

The book provides a great introduction to museums and how they are formulated/run. This book also provides useful thought exercises to help the reader grapple through the dificulties that one may face in the non-profit/for-profit museum field.

This book is a good over view of the what it takes to be a museum administrator. Some interesting things in it are how to deal with the IRS, as well as grant writing.

A very good book on how to run a museum. Lots of good information, anyone who is thinking about getting into museums as a career should read this book.

Informative and easy to read. Used for a graduate course in "Museum adminitration". Case studies help for understanding. Format is good.
