I just got this new book and I own both previous versions of AMC Sea Kayak New England . The trips in the new book are similar to the ones in second version. However, the new book has lots new and useful information. Not like AMC river guide, this new sea kayak book has simply been rewritten. The author add lots nice new trips in Maine to this book. No doubt, he is from Maine. It inspires me again about what we can get from the majestic ocean along New England coast. Been as a kayaking team leader for many years, I do like this book lots.
I own all of the New England sea kayaking books and most of them are pretty dated. This one is a welcome addition to my library. Well written, full of useful information on tides and currents. Fills in a lot of blanks for me as I explore the Maine coast, particularly North of Boothbay and the Bold coast. Some very interesting looking trips that I am really looking forward to. Some cool sidebars on historical and factual things as well.
I wish I'd had this book when I got my start in sea kayaking new england a few years ago. Daugherty has really put together a well curated list of some of the best trips for the intermediate to advanced paddler in the area. In addition to detailed trip information, illustrated by charts it provides the all important launch and parking information as well notes on hazards and cautions.
Very detailed, abundant information. Packs away nicely in the fore bulkhead. Recommended to any sea kayaker within the Northeast.
