I've grown up in Santa Cruz and started mountain biking around 2 years ago. through friends and contacts and just exploring i knew around half to 2/3 of the trails in the book. However where this book shines is the detail. First, I learned a bunch of new routes and loops that I could make that the book mentioned. Second, it tells you the difficulty (none of the trails in here are too gnarly) as well as the elevation change on the trail or for the entire loop. It also gives you trail directions and directions to the trailheads.For those of you looking for some of the UCSC non-sanctioned trails they won't be in here, but everything else is. Even for a local this book is a great reference to know the trail names better and for someone coming through or new to the area it's a great buy and will most likely serve you for quite a few years
