This book is nice. Only thing that could have made this a 5 star book was if t had been in color - but then - I only know of 1 GUNKS guidebook being in color (The Gunks by Zach Orencak & Rachael Lynn - which can be hard to find).Otherwise this books is great. Great pics, diagrams, charts, maps, etc.A DEF must if you want to climb the Gunks! If combined with the above guidebook as well, you have a def kick butt combo for finding routes, reading about GUNKS history, and even some 70's retro pics of some famous climbers as well. The color pics fro, Orencak & Lynn's book help a lot in actually 'locating' the correct route(s), and different sections of the GUNKS sch as a Trapps, Near Traps, etc.
This is a great book for listing out the many climbs at the Gunks. Excellent for someone who has climbed there a few times. If it is your first time there the book will take a little getting used to as the descriptions are not as detailed as other climbing guides... but then again that adds to the adventure a little to find the right route. And certainly at the Gunks any adventure is nice since so much of the Gunks is setup for the masses.Lucas HartfordEvergreen[...]
Ok book, but its several years old now. If you are climbing at the Trapps, get the app.
well put together guide book
Simple concise, covers a lot of territory for it's size. Gives background on the different climbing areas, but again the descriptions are brief. An excellent guide for those who don't want much fluff.
