Beautiful book with fantastic historical photos of gowns as worn by Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, etc. Large with beautiful clear cover. I gave this to my future daughter-in-law after buy her an Oleg Cassini wedding dress, and since her grandmother was so smitten by the designer, I thought they could both enjoy looking through it. I know I did, which surprised me. The book was purchased used but arrived in pristine condition. There were two small stickers on it which I very carefully and easily removed. If you are drawn to this book don't worry, you will love it.
I got this for a friend's bridal shower because I love love love coffee table books and I think the bridal ones are fun, but I flipped through it and it's basically a bunch of cheesy pictures poorly assembled by the eponymous designer, along with commentaries about how many famous people he knows. Which is fine if that's what you're into, but to me it came across as a bit juvenile and definitely too tacky to give as a gift. Many of the dresses are gorgeous, but the author's skill in fashion design definitely did not translate into literature.
Hello,I purchased Oleg Cassini the Wedding Dress book and I find it to be an excellent addition to anyone's fashion library. It chronicles the history of the Wedding dress in all its splendor. I purchased it and it has helped one of my cousins to make a decision on the type of wedding gown that she wanted to buy which she loves! This book shows many of the styles of dress that Oleg Cassini designed as well as the work of other designers. It shows fantastic images from all around the world, both beautiful and regal. I loved the fact that it didn't just show dresses but it depicted how different people choose to get married and what they might wear, such as a suit instead of a dress. There are many choices that people can make and this book shows many! It also shows many of Oleg Cassini's sketches as well giving you an idea as to his many concepts.you will also see many celebrity weddings and see some of the love letters between Oleg Cassini and grace Kelly as well! Lets not forget that Mr. Cassini designed the wardrobe for the First Lady of The United States, Jacqueline Kennedy and also dressed many Hollywood Stars as well! I would highly recommend this book it is very beautifully illustrated.
My niece's wedding dress is actually IN this book, so I can't wait to give her this book as one of her wedding presents. It's a lovely book, with lots of history. It's going to make a wonderful keepsake, and is beautifully done.
Wow, the photographs are exquisite! The book is a large coffee table size, like a glossy fashion catalogue with more of an artistic edge. The cover photo of Grace Kelly is breathtaking. Oleg Cassini took me through decades of fashion celebrating the most important dress. The text is beautifully written and entertaining. This is a gorgeous book for anyone getting married and if you are not, it's an amazing experience with the stars of today and yesterday. The dresses, scenery, and luscious photographs in this book have me picking it up over and over again. I will pass this book down to my daughter for inspiration for her wedding dress and day.
