Nevid's book is nothing short of exceptional. All concepts and theories were presented in an understandable way. I have read the book from cover to cover for an introductory to psychology course, and I received an A. I have read several psychology textbooks during my leisure, and I must say that compared to the others, this book far surpasses them in terms of interpretation. In addition to the clarity of the writer, he provides us with a bit of wit, which I found to be entertaining. A moderate amount of humor makes the repetitiveness of known concepts and theories more bearable and satisfying. Throughout his book he shares several anecdotes that illustrate the concepts found in his book. Omit those who speak ill of this book, for they clearly have no interest in psychology, or reading for that matter.
Not that happy as we were charged late fee before the semester even ended and not given proper time to respond
LOVE PSYCHOLOGY. But it's a textbook. Nothing that exciting.
Jefry seems to be trying to be witty and entertaining, but his not-so-subtle attempts only add to the painful experience of reading this dull book. I'm tempted to label him as what amounts to a sadistic "jerk" (the actual term is not allowed here because 's review policies suck) who gets off on making students miserable with the required textbook, but honestly I think there's a slight chance he's actually trying to make psychology fun ... like a stock broker trying to plan a child's birthday party, or a sappy religious pop or punk rock song that's supposed to be inspirational. I hope I don't have to read any book by him for Abnormal Psychology because I've had more than enough of so-called author. Sorry this review isn't more helpful, but there's not much to say as to why the book sucks. It just does. Even broken up into several "modules" which are sort of like chapters within chapters, the painfully uninteresting text is so boring, everything around me distracts me from what I'm reading, and it's a ton of trouble remembering most of what I just read. I have an attention deficit disorder, but even I have been more engrossed in other textbooks.I probably shouldn't blame Nevid if I fail my class because I could have chosen to focus on the other materials instead of relying too much on this, but even if I pass, this book will still leave a bitter taste in my mouth. It would be a rip-off if it was even a quarter of the price it costs for so much as a rental.
This book came in horrible condition. It was literally covered in dirt or something. The covers are ripping. I hope I am not charged for this upon return.
Fist time I rented a book, not sure where to find the mailing address to send it back! So where do I find it,
Fast shipping and product was as it was described. Will borrow again if possible.
Great !!!
