I have recently been offered an opportunity to illustrate a comic book and I was directed to read this book on how to draw manga. I knew it would be a really good idea to buy and read it. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting and the format was easy to follow. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced artist or just starting, the instructions on how to draw these characters was extremely easy to follow. By following these easy step by step instructions you will be an expert in no time. This book is so easy to follow that it would be good for both adults and children. It has a remarkable list of sites that tell you how to get your art out to the public, which was very helpful. After reading this book, I now have more confidence in myself to be able to illustrate the characters in that comic book. Great job! I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to become a better artist.
Not the best as to it's intended purpose, but did have numerous handy links to manga websites as well as providing info on the different manga styles & associated graphic novel series. Best artwork was the cover, sadly, as there was little else inside that I could really recommend as to learning the trade but on the most rudimentary scale. I'm going to have to continue shopping around.

This book really brought my desire to draw back to life after being buried for so long! I had seen the word "Manga" on Facebook but I had always thought it was something that was all the rage with only the younger set. But to realize its long history and all the different types of this kind of comic, I'm truly intrigued. I appreciate the way the author goes through the instruction of how to draw it, covering every little nuance. And all the sites given to research it further was a nice touch. Who knows? I may very well start a new hobby!
This was great! I have friends who can draw manga really well (even though you won't admit it, Shana)and I wanted to learn how to do it myself. This book got me on the right track. Now I can draw simple portraits of seinen characters, because that's always been my chosen type of anime. Ms. Yakamoto is full of ideas and inspiration, and is great at introducing people to the wide world of manga.
It doesnt really show too much pictures for a female manga character. I only draw female manga characters and there was a female on the front cover so i guessed they'd show more females but no.... only men, really. I didnt like this book at all.
