I'm studying for the California RDA exam (not the same as the DANB RDA exam), and my background is strictly two years of on-the-job training. I did not attend dental assisting classes, but learned everything on the job. Needless to say, when you learn on the job, you don't learn things outside of the scope of your office's practice, so this is a great source of "catch-up" information.I'm finding the questions hard-- because it requires you to know a little anatomy (which teeth have 5 cusps, of which 3 are on the buccal, and 2 roots), medical terms (amelogenesis, exogenous, granuloma,osteitis), radiography (insufficient KvP causes what problems on films?), a little OSHA (what's the purpose of MSDS?), a little chemistry, a little legal, and a LOT of infection control. This book teaches you many things you wouldn't learn on the job, because your dentist might be old-school, cutting corners, or just not up-to-date on OSHA... or you just didn't need to know it because your office equipment was already set up(like what temperature and pressure are needed to sterilize wrapped instruments).I love the format of this book-- no fluff, no lengthy text. It's pure brass tacks. This book is strictly questions with 4 multiple-choice answers, and answers with explanation. I recommend, in addition to this book, a good dental dictionary that will help you with the vocabulary that the book doesn't explain. The book tends to explain the correct answer, and sometimes doesn't explain the incorrect answers.I highly recommend this book.
I took my DANB exam last week and bought a ton of materials for it. This book along with one other were the most helpful tools I purchased. The practice quizzes were set up very well and had explanations before them. The book also provided quiz sheets to print off and use. Great book, I would definately recommend it.
I can't tell you how helpful this book has been. Such a wide-topic,I was studying for a month, and still not sure I was covering all theinformation that might be covered on the test. The book helped mesee the types of questions and where the emphasis of the topic wouldbe. I scored a 98 on a test ... Hooray!
Brand New I can tell this book and disc is going to help me out a lot as I really start to get into reading it cuz you can set the amount of questions to work on at a certain time and everything so as I go along and read my book and take daily questions and stuff I will be on top I feel.
This book has been so helpful in helping me prepare for the CDA exam. Not only does it give you several practice tests and answers, but the answer key is detailed as to why the answers are correct, as well as why the other choices are incorrect. Definitely an essential for preparing for this test!..oh, it also has a CD so you can practice taking the test computerized.
This book is great. It has alot of practice questions and I find the answer explanations very helpful. I find this book easier to follow than the DANB issued review book.
I was given this book from a coworker to help me pass my radiology exam. (I already passed my ICE). I used this book, along with purchasing practice exams from danb, and from practice exams on elsevier.evolve website for my dental assisting book and so far I have passed my radiology and infection control. this book alone covers a lot on multiple areas and I feel prepares you a lot. I will have to update after I take my chairside exam and/or EFDA/RDA exams.
There are a lot of straight questions and explanations in this book. I haven't taken a RDA written exam yet, but I am sure I would pass it because of this usuful book. I will recommend this book to my former schoolmates.
