I have never really been into hair and makeup - I want to look good, but I never spent time learning how to do it. I have been going to the same hair stylist for many years, he is great, but recently I have found that I need to save money and not go as often. So, like everything else I do these days, I went first to my Kindle to look for info on how to color.This book was perfect. I learned a lot more than I thought I was going to - for example, how to tell what my color spectrum is - am I warm or cool? - and what the heck that means anyway. This has helped me in choosing new make up and clothes as well.Robert Bachelor explains in this hair color book the difference between permanent and semi-permanent color, and when to choose which (for example: choose semi-permanent when adding low-lights! and what low lights are). He reviews how your style length and shape, amount of gray, color spectrum/skin tone, etc. all factor into making good hair color choices.And then he walks you through what you need and exactly how to do everything. And why you are doing it. All steps are illustrated with photos. Even the glossary was informative. I have been getting my hair styled and colored for 30 years, but I finally feel like I know what is going on and I have done it myself successfully!
This book is an amazing help when trying to color my hair at home. I don't always have time to make an appointment and go to the hairdresser because I travel so much. This book has helped me to match my color, do my roots and give me the confidence I need until I have time or until I am back home to see my hairdresser. It has been a life saver!!!!
