If you've read one Corey book you've read them all. He has a tendency to drone on. I always walk away from all of is books thinking "that could have been a lot shorter".
Shipped very quickly, easy to read book, but a lot of information. It occasionally jumps from one theorist to the next without warning or indication, which can lead to some confusion if you aren't reading carefully. A great book for those interested in group counselling
Elephants? Am I supposed to see my patients that way? Or all of us? Or is this fifth grade and it's time to learn about elephants, and tigers, and zebras? Regardless of the animal communal behavior habits of elephants, to depict that on the cover is ridiculous and childish. Beyond that, little has changed in this text in years but we keep getting new editions and the price goes up and up while other very excellent and genuinely well written group counseling texts go out of print over the years because everybody keeps packing this old tire with its new cover on the syllabus.
Wordy explanations. Too similar to other texts.
Definitely need this book to pass the Social Work licensure exam! Rentable! But I may buy to have on hand.
Of all the text books I have had to read, I like Gerald Corey's the best. They are an easy read and give a lot of good info.
A pretty good instructional text and easy to understand. As an owner of the Kindle version, I like being able to highlight.
