It Is with great pleasure that I put my voice on paper! After spending many years working in an entry level position, working hard with no reward in return, it was like I showed up, clocked in, and clocked out, without my presence being felt or heard. I wanted more. I wanted a career but my confidence had been stepped all over for so many years! my boyfriend had read this book and was amazed! He strongly encouraged me to read this book and after reading it, he said my life would change drastically, and it did! An Administration position opened up, now never in a million years would I have ever applied, however after studying Hans's material, I realized that I have been settling for so many years and that I deserve more, to be heard, I deserve to install my voice in the professional world. I followed all the steps that the book talked about, and you know what? One morning I woke up and was a new person, I felt like I was a BOSS!! I felt that no matter what, I would be able to succeed and my mental state took its path that led me to obtain a career that not only pays me WAY more than what I was paid before, but has led me to be recognized by all my colleagues and most importantly I have left an imprint into our company's values and objectives. Based on all of the online ‘hype’, I took a chance and picked up a copy of this book. Being out of work, I had already applied to a couple of jobs, but I was getting no responses. Like zero. Following the book’s suggestion, the first thing I did was ‘borrow’ a couple of thank-you note examples and sent them off. And the very next day I get a call to interview, and I’m like “what the…”Even with a B.S. degree in Social Work and years of experience helping countless others with job placement, I felt totally frazzled now being the one having to ‘go out there’ and get a job. Day one, I receive the book in the mail and its paid off within 24-hours. So on Wednesday I went in to my interview, and fortunately I studied the Q&A and negotiating salary section…that saved me when the subject turned to money. He asks, “how much did you get paid at your last job?” and I responded with exact same answer I memorized straight out of the book and not only did I avoid that classic trap, I actually ended up bumping up my hourly.Yesterday (Thursday) I received my job offer. Started working today :) Thank you Hans, your book got me hired.
I was afraid to write too much for fear people wouldn't stop to read it. Wow. There was so much more than I expected in this book. I have looked for years for solid answers about applying for jobs. This situation is made worse because of all the questionable information online…what’s good? What’s not? Well this book definitely sets the record straight. What immediately stands out is the book says everything I know I'm supposed to say…it just says it better than I could in any of my attempts. The sections on emotions and confidence are so original and so powerful, it almost falls in the category of “I gotta see it to believe it.” It literally changed how I see the world. I know that people like to throw out book suggestions to make themselves seem really smart or interesting, but this book stands out because it explains so many things in an easy to read way that really makes sense. A tool rather than airy bland bullet points from some random website on what you “ought” to do.Shawn W.
I wasn’t exactly sure what I was about to be reading. I knew the basics. I knew that I would be able to get results. I knew from many people that the advice was the best that they had ever encountered, so I knew it was going to be great. But still, I tried to adjust my expectations so I wouldn’t overhype myself… and then I opened up my first couple pages and all of that went out the door. It’s so incredibly immersive, that my mind is…a little bit blown. Confidence, winning answers and a brand new way of looking at life, that is what “Interview Like A Boss” brings to the table. I feel myself drawn into the psychology which sometimes causes me to step back a bit and question everything I’ve ever been taught… At some moments, I am speechless. At other times, I’m cracking up. Besides the fact that job hunting is the wild west, how do you fix complicated, real-life issues so you can actually send the resumes in the first place?? …The world around isn’t getting any easier, and there are serious problems we face that no one seems to answer (until now). If anybody is reading this, you’ve just found an incredibly amazing, amazing, amazing book.
I’m so glad I came across this book. This life changing piece of work motivated and encouraged me to make a positive change that I just kept putting off forever. I think it’s a must read for anyone in the work force, job hunting or not. I loved the written humor and cool secrets inside each section. I also like the fact that it’s incredibly user-friendly…it’s organized so you can grab it for quick reference if you’re on the go. It’s very fast paced and so interesting that I found myself reading sections that I didn’t even need to. You need an expert guiding you through the actual job application steps, the background check steps and, most importantly, the emotional ups and downs, especially if you’re alone. That’s what this is, not a book, but a personal coach and support system.
