This collection of New York Times articles about the hit musical "HAMILTON" is a hit in itself, an insightful and enriching collection of Times articles about the background, aesthetics, and impact of this record-setting show. Sure to be a valued remembrance of one of the most significant Broadway musicals in decades.
I have listened to this musical since the day the album was released. When I downloaded this book and read it while listening to the album, a whole new meaning to the lyrics and the music was opened for me. I can't wait to see the show once it comes to San Francisco next year. I keep thinking about taking a second mortgage on my house and going to New York to see it, but will wait to see it early next year.
Lin-Manuel is truly inspiring and I love the fact that he is bringing attention to what being American means. As a first generation American, I don't think about what race I am. I have always felt that I am American and it's only when I visit outside of New York do people look twice at me. I married an American who has Irish and Norwegian ancestry and our children are half Asian and half Caucasian. I feel that I have done my part in contributing to the American melting pot and we will all be of one color one day.
It's difficult to review this ebook because it is a compilation of articles - all interesting - from the archives of the New York Times. The articles - 26 in all - follow "Hamilton" from its inception to winning 16 Tony nominations. And because they're from the New York Times, all are well-written. However, could you get the same articles just from going to the NYT website and searching for "Hamilton" or "Lin-Manuel Miranda" or "$10 bill"? Well, sure. But since the mini-book costs $2.99 (currently), why not let your fingers just click on "purchase" on the website?
If you've been a fan of Hamilton and following its rise, here're all the source documents from along the way. If you're new to the bandwagon, this is even a bigger treat because you'll have easy access to what you've missed.
Lots of great detail and beautiful presentation.
Very inspiring,thought-provoking as well as entertaining.
