I have a DSLR camera and although I love taking photos with it, I realised that they could be so much better, which is why I downloaded this book.It is quite simply a gem! The author starts by explaining what DSRL cameras are, and then goes on to discusses what type of photographer you want to be, and the type of images you want to capture.From there the world of the DSLR camera unfolds, he gives plenty of excellent advice on how to use it and make your photos look as visually stunning as possible. He then goes on to explain some of the tricks of the trade, and discusses the increased revival in the popularity of black and white, and sepia, photography.Included also are tips on maintenance of your camera.In the conclusion, it was nice to see a good selection of photos for different types of photography, macro, landscapes, portrait, nature etc.Basically I am really happy that I downloaded this book and am enjoying ‘playing’ with my camera.
I think i received an updated version than some of the negative reviewers. This book had photos throughout, and the images were decent quality. There was a lot about photoshopping and adding shine, deleting wrinkles, and other editing. It is fairly basic, however, it is supposed to be with the "made easy" in the title.I might refer to it if i need to
This is an excellent book for a beginning DSLR photographer. Even the more knowledgeable digital camera enthusiast will most certainly find tips that will enhance their own photos. Both my husband and I have perused the book and found helpful pointers such as what accessories are needed for the type of photography we each want to do! The author, Dwayne Brown, shows that having a camera does not make one a photographer, knowledge and practice does. He has a great deal to share with his readers right down to how to hold the camera if you do not have a steady hand. The section on the use of the symbols on the camera dial are a good refresher for me personally. There are so many possibilities with a nice digital camera and Mr. Brown points them out with his simple photography tips. He also gives valuable info on care, cleaning and use of the camera. Eight chapters cover the topics, What Did I Just Buy, What Kind of Photographer Are You?, Steady as She Goes, and more, with the important, DSLR Maintenance in chapter 8. I didn't find this book (I got it on Kindle) to be very well written or organized at all. I was able to pick a couple tips out of it but I had to wade through a lot of fluff in order to get it. I wouldn't have minded the fluff if it was all in one place but it was spread through out. I was looking for a good combination of details about the relationship between the complexities of a camera and specific examples and I didn't find that here. I ended up getting this instead and liked it a lot better: The Beginner's Photography GuideSave your time and money and keep looking.
To be honest I'm still waiting for my boyfriend to give me my DSLR for Christmas, he told me not to open it until Christmas which is terrible! This book gave me a great tutorial on what to do and not to do :) I also love the bonus! It is great to have an author about photography that can explain how easy it is to be somewhat a professional with DSLR Photography. I really appreciate how he explained the step by step tips so I can follow along the way. Because of this book, I can't wait to open and sneak up under the tree and open my present!
A great introductory guide to photography. While having owned a camera for a while, mainly for documenting family life, I've often been wondering about f-stops and apertures, and how to use them correctly. After fiddling with these settings after reading this book, I noticed a sense of progression in my photographs, achieving the kind of depth of field I want in my photos. Also, one of the greatest tips I got out of this book was the breathing routine while taking pictures, as well as the rule of thirds. An essential book for any aspiring photographer!
After buying a DSLR camera thinking that I can turn this investment into a profitable pastime, I was stumped. This book taught me the basic steps of the photography hobby. From the settings of the camera to the post production and many more, I realized I still have a lot to learn. There are sensible tips offered here. The writing is straightforward and friendly. Creating professional-looking photos takes a lot of planning. I tried the posing tips on some nature and group photos and I got a lot of compliments. I recommend this book for all photography amateurs like myself.
This book is lovely and great would help those of us who are interested in photo works to get the best of of it, having the various steps on how to snap visually stunning pictures using the DSLR camera. It shows how the this camera could be used and the various elements needed and how this could be properly used just to get a good snapped.
