The time had come to prepare for our day at Universal. And, truth be told, we are such Disney die-hards that I had no clue where to begin. So, I first turned to my friends at The Intrepid Traveler. And, as luck would have it, they were in the process of updating this book to include the new Diagon Alley addition. Just in time!I received the book last week and proceeded to read through it immediately. I was really impressed with the details in the book. Truth be told, I got much more information from this book than I could find on the Universal website.I marked the sections on both Diagon Alley at Universal Studios and Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure. My favorite thing about this book is found on page 57 and is entitled “The One-Day Stay for Potterphiles.” Since our primary purpose for finally wanting to go to Universal at all is the Harry Potter attractions. So, this page will come in EXTREMELY helpful for navigating these parks which we’ve never visited before. I feel like, with this itinerary and the accompanying chapters on the two Harry Potter sections of the parks, we can have a very successful day and get the most out of the things that we want to see and do.I’m not saying that we won’t venture out into the other areas of the parks, but the other parts aren’t priority.I’m so thankful for this book! I would highly recommend it if you’re planning an upcoming Universal visit.

I have never been to Universal Orlando, although I have been to Universal Hollywood a couple of times. All of my Orlando trips, of which there have been several, have always been Mouse-oriented. Now that Universal has added TheWizarding World of Harry Potter to its many themes, my friend and I are planning a trip for early 2011.However, I couldn't find any book that even mentioned the new Wizarding World. Until this one. I believe it's the first.I read the book from cover to cover, and the Harry Potter section over and over. There are many typos and grammatical mistakes all the way through the book, and I found that distracting. However, the information in the book was so valuable, the editor in me has to let those mistakes slide. This is truly a valuable book. I now know how to buy my tickets, approximately how much they're going to cost, how many days we're probably going to need, and how many days it'll take us to see the things we want to see. I even discovered that there's a Men in Black themed ride inside Universal. And that's just the info I was looking for.

Just got back from Orlando so waited to review until trip was complete. This book was a great resource in planning our trip to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. The information was accurate and helpful, especially in deciding what to see first in each day.

I thought I was going a little overboard by purchasing a book about Universal Orlando. I mean it wasn't like I was visiting another country or anything like that. I was just traveling one state over from Alabama to Florida right. Well, I am so glad I bought this book. The tips they offered were "right on"! I used there suggested itinerary for short visits and it was very useful. If you are going to Universal Orlando for the first time with your family or friends, being organized and having a plan to get through the park is the only way to do it. That's why this book is an absolute must!

I bought this book before going to the 2 Orlando Universal Parks with my husband leaving our adult sons at home. We are in our late 50s/early 60s. I read the book before going and looked up several things while down there. I found the book very helpful as I am a person that likes to know things before going. We ate in several of the suggested restaurants and were not at all disappointed.

Is your family planning a trip to Orlando, but hoping for a little time away from a certain mouse? Think there's nothing to do in Orlando except hang with one cranky duck named Donald? Are your kids older and looking for a little more excitement in their Orlando vacation?Look no further! Kelly Monaghan has the book for you! UNIVERSAL ORLANDO 2006: The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure will have you planning a trip to Orlando with a little more focus on fun and a little less focus on...well, you-know-who.Organized in true travel-guidebook style, UNIVERSAL ORLANDO breaks down the two parks and City Walk into easy-to-digest bites. Monaghan gives you the inside information on rides, shops, restaurants, and other "insider information" that will leave little doubt in your mind what you will be getting into when planning your trip. She gives you price ranges, recommended photo opportunities (a very nice addition to the book by the way), star ratings, and even length of rides and attractions. The information flies fast and free from the get-go in this book. In the opening chapter about planning your escape to Orlando, you can find very handy information about average weather patterns in the area, average park attendance according to various times of year, ticket options and prices, and even where to park.Monaghan leaves no stones unturned. She offers advice and what to do according to the length of your stay. She gives detailed information about the amenities to be found in the Universal resort hotels, tells you where and when to obtain character autographs, and even provides maps of the various parks. Before reading this book, I had no idea all that Universal Orlando has to offer Orlando visitors. I was shocked to learn how many fun alternatives there are to be had there. Needless to say, UNIVERSAL ORLANDO has changed my vacation plans for this year.
