While the chapters are short and easy to read, there is content missing from the textbook. The textbook states that the answers to the end of chapter questions are in Appendix C. However, Appendix C is just drug calculation information. The answers to the end of chapter case studies, questions, etc. are no where in the book, which is very unhelpful to check your work. I contacted the company to ask about this and they said that my instructor will have to contact the publisher. So it looks like I'm stuck with a book with no answers.
Unlike fourth edition, this fifth edition has neither answers, nor answer explanations for the review questions. I have always thought that latest editions ought to be better than it previous ones, but in this edition, that does not appear to be the case. I would like answers and rationals be included for and after the review questions. This latest edition appears to be a step back from it previous ones and that's not right.
When you buy this book in order to get the answers from the end of chapter questions you have to purchase a supplement for another $50!As if the publishers don't make enough money off of the students. The older edition is more in-depth and has the end of chapter answers, i recommend that buy that one instead.
This book shouldn't be so expensive when there is missing content! No answers for review questions, how is it possible this book past publishing without the answers meant to help the customer have a better learning experience by using this book? Unacceptable.
great book, the small chapters make the material easily digestible. I only gave 4 stars because it is missing more information on other frequently used drugs in the individual drug classes, and an appendix that contains the answers to the chapter review questions and critical thinking questions. we were unable to obtain this information on our own. the company required that our instructor request the information to then distribute to us. I feel justified in thinking that, if we bought the text, we should be able to have individual access to the full materials create to be included in the text.
[...] This book is one of the better books on the topic. It takes a more biological approach to the topic so you can really understand how the drugs work. Prototype (proto) drugs are used as examples for most of the categories. If you learn how a proto drug works then you understand the basics for all drugs in that category. The choice of these proto drugs seems to differ between textbooks so they are somewhat arbitrary. Don't obsess over it - some textbooks have none.
