As a veterinary pharmacist, I use this book several times per day -- sometimes dozens of times/day. My 7th Edition was a "handbook" size so I opted for the "desktop" version this time. I'm very impressed with the newly updated drug-monographs (and new additions) and the time spent to use citations of evidence based medicine for veterinary prescribing (FDA approved use, off-label use, dosing, mechanism, pharmacokinetics, available drug products, etc) . I also love the reference section at the end for laboratory values and other monitoring parameters a veterinarian or pharmacist may want to monitor during drug therapy. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is either prescribing and/or dispensing medications to veterinary patients of any species! This is a reference text you will not want to be without in clinical practice!!!!
Previous editions of this reference were excellent. In this edition they have changed the format of the listed uses and doses for the drugs. This new format makes it much more difficult to quickly find the information you need. Also, information for some common medications is no longer in the book. I am disappointed with this edition and I really hope the next one is better.
As a vet tech student, this pharmacy handbook has been wonderful! It is easy to use and includes ALL crucial information for veterinary professionals to know! Will use this book forever (even after graduating)!
The best book for veterinary drugs! The updated version is in a slightly different format as it highlights the most accepted dose for a given indication instead of listing every known dose available.
Everything about this book is convenient. The size (I've got the pocket edition) makes it very portable. Finding the needed information is effortless and its always very accurate by not giving any unnecessary data without being sketchy.Cheap and fast shipping to Colombia.I'm satisfied with my purchase
I've had a copy of Plumb's on my desk, in my pocket, on my Palm Pilot or in my iPhone for over 20 years so I think I qualify as a faithful user. Nevertheless I am dismayed to find that the online subscription price has jumped in the past year from $54 to $85 annually - coincident with a new and, I think less convenient, website. Furthermore the hardcopy sells for $76 nearly $10 lower than the annual subscription fee of $85. Alas I will be searching for an alternative to Plumb's electronic subscription.Now, this years subscription fee for return users is zero but if history is any indication the annual fee will increase next year again.
Great book, use it everyday to make sure everything is as I recalled. Very small and handy rather than the previous edition that is rather large and bulky to keep on your desk or on hand in an emergency.
This book is perfect in every way. It includes a huge variety of medications given to animals. It has dosages, Interactions , and function of medications. This is the version that Vets use in their offices. It's their "go to book,"The print is a nice size, so no eye strain here. The book is bound well for heavy use.I will be using this book frequently. I'm glad I bought it.A great read.
