I purchased the loose leaf version with some reservations over the hole placement based on other reviews. I was pleased to find out that it does in fact fit into a regular binder. I purchased a 1.5 inch 3 ring binder separately and it fits inside just fine. The pages are not the same size as normal lined paper but the 2 holes punched in the pages of the books are spaced so that they fit just fine in a standard binder. I have included a picture or two of my loose leaf book in my binder. I plan to take just the pages I need in a smaller folder to my classes rather than hauling the entire thing back and forth for the two days of class that I have but that is just me. This book was required for my class so my only choice in the matter was format and from where. Since this option was by far cheaper than via my local book store I chose here. It arrived very quickly. (Arrived via USPS on a Sunday of all days!)
This is an excellent academic book. I am glad my professor chose this book, it is written in a format that easy to understand, and is sectioned perfectly to guide the student with ease. It's a great resource for writers.
well worth the purchase. The book gives very detailed examples for each topic and includes explanations from the very simple to the more complex. I appreciated that it did not assume that the reader knows certain things. Worth every penny. I have a classmate who is just going back to college after 25 years, she mentioned that her college age son used the same book and both enjoyed it for difference reasons but both felt it was a great book.
This book was a required textbook for my English college class, but I found this book to be very helpful when completing my English essays. The book showed our class how to pick a topic based on the type of essay we were writing and construct it from beginning to end. The text also contains example essays, that were a great read!
The St. Martin's Guide to Writing has transformed my writing to an effortless production of scholarly articles. The "Guide" is used along with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) writing style and fills in the blanks of what I was not grasping in my APA style papers. I understand it is "nerdy" to say the "Guide" is constantly at my side... but, it is at my side constantly and this includes nighttime reading or review. The price is worth the investment in me and my future as a public health scholar.
Excellent source for writing, especially if you're like me and haven't written a college paper in ages. Used in my English Comp class.
I rented out this book with the thought that it will be in good condition, but when I got this book, it was already with tore back cover and folded front cover. Also there are some writings on the pages which I believe is expected for rented books.The biggest disappointment was the wrinkled front of the book.
I'm sure the content of the book is fine, but the electronic version has been a complete nightmare. The book would not open on a single one of my devices. I've tried tablets, my cell phone and my PC. I don't know why it doesn't work but I've been trying for weeks. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
