I have all of Tony and Chelsea's books and I recommend them to everyone I love the facebook groups and the video integration these guys are revolutionizing the learn experience. When you buy this book you don't just get a book, you become part of a community of photography enthusiasts that help each other out on facebook.
A steal at 5x the price, I'm lost for where to start the laundry list of reasons to begin or further your Photoshop learning with Tony Northrup's latest text. You'd be hard pressed to source another guide to Adobe's Photoshop written by someone with the experience not only as a working photographer and user of the product, but who's spent his professional career writing books that teach software to users.I've found the content of the book to be well organized and easy to understand. The layers feature in PS, for example, is something that I've always struggled with and Tony's approach to explaining the concepts and adjustments of said layers is the best I've encountered. Finally, I get it! If the concise text isn't enough, you'll get access to 10 hrs. of video content from Tony featuring his talented wife and publisher Chelsea. Past books I've purchased like Northrup's "How to Create Stunning Digital Photography" and their guide to Adobe's Lightroom CC have seen the number of videos grow over time along with fantastic post-purchase user support like dedicated Facebook Groups for confirmed buyers and yearly revisions. I just don't think there is another guide this complete on the market and certainly not at this affordable price point. If you have even a casual interest in Adobe's very powerful Photoshop software this book is an easy buy.
I highly recommend all of Tony and Chelsea's books!! I own all their books and have gifted them many times! In my opinion, their books are simply the easiest, best teaching manuals on the market. The hours of free videos that go along with each chapter is icing on the cake!!
This book is fantastic for both the beginner and veteran Photoshop user (I've been using PS for many years since version 4). Tony and Chelsea go through all of the new tools, and explain how to do very specific things that have to do with photography, like replacing backgrounds, retouching portraits, HDR, compositing, etc. It also covers customizing Photoshop to your needs and goes through virtually every tool you'll need to use for photography. You also can receive updates to the book as Photoshop gets updated, which is a true bonus. The videos are to the point, and cover a lot of ground. There is also an entire community to become a part of, which allows you to get honest feedback on your own photos, ask questions, etc. You won't be disappointed if you invest such a small amount of money in your photographic skill set!!
This book is a great resource for learning Photoshop. It's not just a book but it integrates many videos which help you not only learning from reading but learn from seeing it and doing it in Photoshop. They give you files to work on while you follow along with the video and you can always stop the video, rewind it and look at the book as a written resource. What is also nice is that Tony and Chelsea offer different editing styles in Photoshop so you get to see how two different professionals approach Photoshop. This helps if you prefer one style over the other or if you like they way one of them changed a particular part of a photo over the other. This book is large too, over 300 pages and you get the ebook for 9.99. What a great deal!!!After reading and learning from the videos I have learned how to edit images in Photoshop comfortably.
