I am so glad this book has been updated. The previous edition (which is still being sold), while being amusingly written, makes for a lot or route finding on the ground. This one has better maps and clearer explanations. Of course most of the trails are completely unmarked and therefore are a bit difficult to navigate, but it would be outright impossible without the book! Buy the book and go to Telluride. It rocks.
I found this guidebook extremely helpful on my recent trip to Telluride. It gave me a good overview of the best hiking in that area, helping me narrow down my selection. The attention to detail made for easy navigation once on the trail but also in getting to the trailheads. Overall, a must have for anyone looking to explore the beautiful heights that Telluride has to offer!
This book is kind of like an encyclopedia. It has the good hikes, the average hikes, and the 3d tier. And fairly short descriptions. But all the details are here, and if you are wondering if there's a hike in a particular place near Telluride, and how to do it, this is the book that will give you the information. Definitely worth having.
