This book is a clear concise review of fetal echo. I own it and I recommend it highly. It covers normal and abnormal in a very understandable way. I"m a perinatal sonographer and love this book.
This book was recommended to me by the director of my fellowship training program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. I was delighted with the practical and immediately applicable pearls of wisdom this book is so full of; it is a must for every scholar of prenatal sonography and can form the basis for further study.
This is a great resource for any Fetal Cardiac Sonographer. It may be a tad too technical for the General / OB sonographer with minimal Congenital Heart Disease experience. Julia Drose has a simplified book that may be read prior to this one.Just a suggestion....
Of the books I have of fetal echocardiography, this is the most practical of all, concise and well crafted with the latest published information on the subject, I recommend it deserved and congratulations to the author
This book absolutely should be required reading for all fellows in maternal and fetal medicine and pediatric cardiology. It is also perfect for sonographers and sonologists interested in certification. The authors are both well known experts in this field. The reviews of the cardiac defects, illustrations, and images are superbly done. Color Doppler imaging is reproduced with excellent explanatory figures. The role of the three vessel tracheal view in identifying conotruncal defects and aortic arch abnormalities is well covered. Extensive references are provided. I would have liked to see a couple additional chapters covering biometry, z scores, ejection fractions, and Tei indices in detail. This is a minor criticism. Articles on these subjects can easily be supplemented. This book was clearly an act of love by the authors. They clearly invested a huge amount of time from their busy schedules. We should all be grateful. By the way the price of the text for a medical publication is very reasonable.
Absolute perfection, visually stunning, truly the ultimate! The brainchild of two of the world leaders in obstetrical sonography, this is a must have for anyone who does prenatal ultrasound. Compact, packed with incredible images (sonographic, schematic and pathologic) as well as detailed tables, and a great aid to the sonologist who encounters a cardiac abnormality. In additon to normal fetal cardiac anatomy and what was covered in the first edition, this edition has a chapter on first trimester fetal echocardiography and lists the first trimester findings for each cardiac defect in the corresponding chapter for that particular defect. In the section on "abnormal hearts", one can find details on all the diagnostic modes and planes necessary to diagnose that particular abnormality. Having this "bible" on fetal echocardiography guides the sonologist as to what to look for and enables the sonologist to ascertain the diagnosis and provide proper counseling to the family pending further evaluation by a pediatric cardiologist...This should unequivocally be "the guide" present at the bedside in every ultrasound unit...
I found this book very informative and helpful, the complete book for echocardiography. I will suggest to read this book. A must read book to know about fetal heart. it clears all the queries and informed the clear concepts about heart. I really enjoyed reading this book. Good job.
This text is a great resource for sonographers. I use this text as a supplement to the classic J. Drose text for instruction to sonography students. The only additional information I would have liked to see in this text would be a comprehensive overview on cardiogenesis; however, with ample resources, this is not an issue.
