Renoir and Monet’s paintings seem to be the most colorful and upbeat art work of the Post-Impressionist period. I would have loved to know what prompted Renoir to paint some of these images. As with the other artists highlighted by Stanley Cesar, there are multiple covers (some with paintings that are not included in the set of 24, and some that are repeated in the eBook). I do not understand Cesar’s reasoning behind this duplication.Copying paintings without commentary or insights – and repeating the same 24 images in each book – hardly seems worth 3 stars.
This is a lovely collection of beautiful art from a true master. Perfect for sharing with little ones to introduce them to the beauty of art. As I was sharing it with my son, we noted how, in those times, people did not have cameras. To have captured such moments in time with such attention to art, detail and backgrounds, is a real treat. We enjoyed this collection and appreciate it being offered to help introduce and inform and to "touch the palate" of the young so they can see what truly good art is. It is a walk in the past, showing us the years-gone-by cleverly depicted by a famous artist, but also the colors and artistic presentation gives much material to discuss this art form. This volume is appreciated and I recommend it to you. I also say a heartfelt "Thank You!" to the ebook composer Stanley Cesar for an excellent, informative, and educational short ebook which fits perfectly a youngsters' attention span.
I received this edition for free so not bad for the price. I love the artist but the images are way too small. They cannot be enlarge and there are no comments or text of an educational nature. I'm not sure why this would be labeled as "for children" without some thing to explain the art or the artist. I would not pay for this book without those changes taking place.
French Paintings 18th/19th Centuries encore une fois : Cezanne was fine and Renoir was extraordinaire! How odd that I would remember seeing "Two Sisters" from a Parker Brothers board game called "Masterpiece" from way back in the 70s that I have an itch to play it again after all these years. That had Junior asking "Can I play, too?" Sure, when we get back home I replied. One last stop at Edgar Dega before we leave as the younger kids are starting to get antsy. And if you care to start where my reviews for our make believe trip to the Louvre began please head back to da Vinci if you please.
Save your money. If you must buy one of these buy only one of the painter you want to look at. It may seem that there are multiple books of the same painter, but they all have the same pictures. There is no dialogue or descriptions. Just the painting and the title. You'll get more out of a library book and it won't cost you a thing. I got all of mine free through prime for free. It would have been a ripoff had I paid any money.
A nice collection of paintings. Would have been better with title translations and short commentary on the paintings and what they depict (a small amount of history?) and the resolution when enlarged could be better but it is Renoir. How could it be less than 5 stars?
I am not sure how these paintings are"for children." In what way? (There is no bad language, btw.)Most,if not all,are familiar works known to art fanciers. As just paintings, each might be a good way to start a conversation with children, but speaking as someone who was a child of 10,55 years ago, these paintings are boring.Despite the fact that this artist is held in such esteem, with few exceptions, today's children would consider this book a snooze-fest.Now,as an adult,I would welcome such a book to increase my knowledge of art. There should be accompanying text to study and from which to learn.
These Stanley Cesar art books for Kindle have been a great supplement to our homeschool art curriculum. They're kid-friendly (have no mature content...or none in the several I've purchased so far.)
