Temporary Exhibits : From Kahlo of Mexican fame to halfway across the globe to Japanese artist Hokusai all in just a comparatively few short steps within the confines of the Louvre. I was swept away by "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and "Ocean Waves". Unfortunately all I heard until the next section from my daughter, Mary was "When can we go to the pool?" You'll have to be quiet, I whispered, as we all headed off to see Rembrandt. And if you care to start at the very beginning please head back to da Vinci if you like.
Edit: Okay so after a month, I found out to HOLD the photo, and it will expand. I stand corrected. Whew! Rating amended.I snagged all of these in the series today, but guess what? I'd thought the paintings would render beautifully on my 8.9" Fire. Yeah, no. There's about 8 words of text for each painting, which are literally about 1.5 inches square, and a bunch of blank page.I wanted to use these as a teaching aid, but the images are far too tiny. So sad; neat books.
I downloaded this for myself and I was absolutely "gobsmacked" (if that is just an Australian term it means speechless). The pictures were gorgeous and some I didn't realise were painted by Hokusai. So it was enjoyable and educational for me. I hope that this book will be downloaded by adults for themselves too as it is wonderful.
I love having the art available at my fingertip as we study the artists. This is so convenient. We would be much less likely to complete our fine arts study without such a ready resource.
Yes, I know, it's for children. But even children can expect to be told more about a foreign culture. So this is not bad, nice pictures, but somehow I expected more of this book.
Not worth downloading more that one book of each painter, because they will have the same 24 prints. Paintings and titles only. No description or commentary.
I love these books by Stanley Cesar. I got them so that I could see them in their full color on my Kindle Fire Tablet. Very much worth it!
