Great Guide! Gives you just enough information to get you started on your travel plans and research. A little bit too much emphasis on "The Sound of Music" in my opinion. Austria is more than a movie. Overall i would recommend this to anyone traveling to Austria who also does not mind doing their own research.

We just returned from a summer trip to Austria and this edition of Fodor's Vienna and Austria was excellent. We followed the small town itinerary and also visited and stayed at many Fodor's Choice selections and we had a great vacation. The restaurant recommendations are terrific if one uses the book as a compliment to a tour. We also found that the Lonely Planet Austria guidebook was an excellent complement to this one as it had detailed maps and had information on beer gardens, vegetarian restaurants, and lower priced restaurants. Use both guides on your trip and you will have an awesome time!

Very helpful to navigate the best sites of Vienna and rural Austria; as in other Fodor's series, the Fodor's choice was spot-on. Highly recommended.
